education
Studied geology both as an undergraduate at Syracuse University and a graduate student at the University of Rhode Island with an emphasis in igneous and metamorphic petrology, structural geology, economic mineralogy, geochemistry, and geologic oceanography. Research included mapping of an area of Northern Maine (UG) and evaluation of a fault system in eastern Connecticut (G).

Graduate school was fully funded as a teaching and research assistant. Taught mineralogy laboratories and provided support for igneous and metamorphic petrology, and New England geology graduate and undergraduate classes. Operated and developed methods for an xrf spectrometer for trace element analysis in igneous and metamorphic rocks.

Worked as a hydrogeologist and manager for three environmental companies in New Jersey and Connecticut. Supported or managed major environmental projects at diverse industrial facilities in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, and Puerto Rico. Also supported nation-wide assessments and investigations.

Managed the Salt Lake City office of the geoscience group of a major national engineering firm and founded and operated a small consultancy supporting very large environmental and regulatory compliance projects in Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas, including what was the second largest groundwater investigation and remediation effort in Utah.

Founded and operated two firms providing creative support on large environmental or natural resource based projects including support to a New York investor-relations firm for the listing and raise of around 180 million dollars in financing for a mining and mineral processing company on the NYSE.
